"At the current pace of progress, we are more than 100 years away from gender equality in the C-suite." Sheryl Sandberg
Facebook’s own Sheryl Sandberg said that only after her husband’s death she understood the challenges faced by single mothers, some of whom live in poverty, work multiple jobs and don’t get paid leave.
Low-income-single-parent-working-mother led households represent 65 percent of African American and 31 percent of Latino low income households.
In response to the statistics, the Walker’s Legacy Foundation - with funding support from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation - launched a program to address this gap that enhances the entrepreneurial readiness of low-income single mothers.
The project is funded by a $160,000 grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and will be piloted in Detroit, Michigan and Baltimore, Maryland.
Natalia Oberti Noguera, CEO of signature bootcamp for new investors Pipeline Angels http://pipelineangels.com , serves on the board and supports Walker's Legacy's work and mission.
What’s the connection?
Some of her Pipeline Angels -- high powered women entrepreneurs and investors - were once struggling single mothers.
