The American Association of Retired Persons found in a recent survey that 70 percent of single Baby Boomers are actively dating. The survey also showed that 45 percent of men and 38 percent of women between the ages of 40 and 59 have sex once a week.
"Women and men in their 60s -- the kids are gone. They don't have to worry about getting pregnant. Most of their bills are paid. And hopefully the kids are out of college," said Dr. Margaret New.
Many members of the Baby Boom Generation said maturity brings a new confidence to the dating scene.
"I'm much more comfortable in my own skin. I'm much more attractive to men in my life, I'm finding. Because I'm not needy, I'm not wanting," said Janet Spadola.
Spadola said she is single and loving it. She is approaching 60. Spadola also said she has never felt better about herself or her prospects of finding companionship.
Several Baby Boomers said their dating options are wide open because they are not necessarily looking for marriage or even a long-term relationship.
"So, I can just relax and enjoy the relationship for what it is. I don't know where it's going and it's not important. It's what is this relationship right now," Spadola said.
